  It's funny that the article talks about how many mistakes science has made and then had to make changes because of a new understanding.

  But why, in my opinion, is that example not comparable?

  Well, science does not claim to have been blessed with info or guidance from a divine source!

  The WTS constantly prides itself with the 'understanding that Jehovah has given them', albeit wrong.

  Why wrong? Every few years it' time to make a change, and all of a sudden, 'we were wrong in our understanding'.

  But wait - I thought Jehovah, through his spirit, blessed them with understanding? Now what was taught is wrong? If Jehovah is/was the source, then who screwed up?

  i don't know about you, but i love saturday mornings...now that crawling out of bed on a cold november morning to go and knock on doors is no longer on the agenda.

  does that sense of being free ever grow old?

  i almost missed this in my last post, but i just realized how important and must list it.

  paragraph 14 from jan 15, 2010 wt last article entitled "jehovah's way of ruling vindicated".

  "a few anointed members of "the israel of god" still remain, and as jesus' brothers, they continue to act as "ambassadors substituting for christ (2 cor 5:20) they have been appointed as a faithful and discreet slave class to care for and provide spiritual food for annointed ones and a growing crowd of christians, who now include millions having the hope of living on earth forever.

  i was just on the new jw.org site and i have to say, they've done a good job.

  it looks pretty sleek and is easy to navigate.

  the production values of their magazines (in particular the photos) seems to have improved since i last spent much time on the site.

  They love to use illustrations like this or even one such as the host waiting for the dinner guests to arrive.

  What they fail to interject is logic. How long should one wait after the perceived or obvious "delay"? At a certain point it only makes sense to give up.

  How can anyone really be a 100% confident atheist given the paranormal and occult?

  i don't believe the bible is inerrant nor do i hold a 'christian worldview' any longer as my profile details say (which i am unable to update on my profile), but i just can't see how anyone can be absolutely 100% confident there is nothing out there we can call a 'god' or spirit creature in the face of endless first-hand accounts of paranormal and occult experiences that felt as 'real' to the person who experienced them as anything else in their lives.. there are untold reports of ghosts, faith-healing, ouija boards, seances, spirit mediums, stigmata, mystical born-again experiences, speaking in tongues, and then there's hypnotism, ufo sightings, poltergeists, remote viewing, etc, etc.

  ok, so its mostly only anecdotal evidence, but the amount of it is so overwhelming it is practically corroborating evidence.

  in the face of all this, how can anyone categorically assert that there is nothing out there that is beyond ourselves that we might call a 'god' or spirit creature?
